The Hidden Enemy: Entrained Air and Vacuum Collapse
In any pressurized fluid transmission system, air is the most unpredictable variable. Entrained air pockets can reduce flow capacity by up to 30%, while sudden vacuum conditions caused by pump failure or line breaks can lead to catastrophic pipe collapse. Veyron Valve’s Combination Air Valve (Triple Function) provides a high-performance solution to these dynamics. By managing the air-water interface during startup, operation, and shutdown, our valves act as a dedicated "respiratory system," ensuring the structural integrity and pumping efficiency of your infrastructure.
Triple-Action Engineering: Kinetic and Residual Management
Unlike simple single-orifice vents, Veyron’s combination series handles three distinct hydraulic scenarios:
- Large Volume Kinetic Discharge: During the initial filling of the pipeline, the valve allows massive volumes of air to escape through the large orifice. As the water level rises, the float is buoyed upward, sealing the valve only when the line is fully primed.
- Vacuum Relief (Air Intake): In the event of a rapid drainage or pump trip, the valve responds instantaneously to negative pressure. The float drops, admitting large volumes of atmospheric air into the pipe to break the vacuum, preventing the "implosion" of thin-walled or plastic pipes.
- Residual Air Release under Pressure: During normal operation, small amounts of air continuously disengage from the water and collect at high points. Our "small orifice" mechanism allows these micro-bubbles to be purged while the pipeline remains under full working pressure, preventing the gradual buildup of flow-restricting air pockets.
Advanced Float Dynamics & Material Selection
- Aerodynamic Float Design: We utilize high-grade Stainless Steel (SS304/316) or high-density UV-stabilized Polypropylene for our floats. The spherical geometry is precision-engineered to resist "premature closure" caused by high-velocity air streams, ensuring the valve stays open until the water actually arrives.
- Durable Ductile Iron Body: The pressure boundary is cast from Ductile Iron GGG50, coated with 250μm of Fusion Bonded Epoxy (FBE). This provides the impact resistance needed to withstand the "kinetic shock" that occurs when the water column finally reaches the valve.

Maintenance: Designed for Field Longevity
Maintenance engineers prioritize Veyron Valve because of our Anti-Shock / Non-Slam Mechanism (optional). This internal feature slows down the final closing stage of the float, preventing the localized water hammer that often damages standard air valves. Furthermore, the valve's internal components can be fully serviced from the top without removing the body from the pipeline. The large-clearance design ensures that even in non-potable water systems, the float mechanism remains free from the debris and scale that cause "dribbling" or failure to seal.
Strategic Applications
Veyron Valve’s air valves are the definitive choice for Main Transmission Lines, High-Rise Booster Skids, and Pumping Stations. They are strategically installed at every high point (peaks), at significant changes in slope, and at long horizontal runs to ensure that air pockets never compromise your system’s hydraulic performance or energy efficiency.
